Self-publishing company reviews (2026): Trustpilot and BBB scores compared

This is every self-publishing company we have reviewed, with its Trustpilot score and its Better Business Bureau record side by side. Each row links to the full review: what authors praise, what some authors report with dates and links, and what to ask before you sign. We are a competing publisher, so weigh our reviews accordingly.

How to read a review score

  • Check how many reviews the score rests on and whether the company invites every customer to review.
  • Read the one- and two-star reviews for what they describe, not only the number.
  • Look for a pattern across several reviews, such as support after publication or marketing that was sold but not delivered.
  • On the BBB, see whether the profile is the company's own or its parent's, and how many complaints were answered or resolved.

Frequently asked questions

Which self-publishing company has the best reviews?

Scores are not a ranking. A high Trustpilot score can come from a company that invites every customer to review, and a low one from a platform whose customers mostly write when something goes wrong. Each page says how many reviews the score rests on, whether the company invites reviews, and what the unhappy reviews describe.

Where do these scores come from?

From each company's public Trustpilot and Better Business Bureau pages, read on the date shown on its review page. We log each review we use with its stars, date and a theme, quote under 15 words, and link every line to its source.

Why do Trustpilot and the BBB sometimes disagree?

They measure different things. Trustpilot shows customer stars; the BBB shows a letter grade, accreditation and a count of complaints. A company can be A+ on the BBB and low on Trustpilot, or the reverse, so read both.

Are these reviews of Harmony Publishing?

No. This page is about other companies. What authors say about Harmony Publishing is on our reviews page, with each review linked to Trustpilot or Google.

What should I ask a publisher before I sign?

Every review page ends with questions to ask before you pay: what is in the price, who your contact is, what happens after publication, how royalties are reported and what the refund position is.
