Harmony Publishing vs BookLogix
BookLogix is a US author-services company with in-house printing, selling its services à la carte.
Short version. BookLogix and we are both author-services companies, but they are built differently: BookLogix sells its editing, design, printing and distribution à la carte, where we bundle them into packages with the price on the page. The meaningful comparison is what you buy, who the publisher of record is, and what royalty share is taken. Ask all three before choosing either.
Which should you choose?
Choose Harmony if…
- You want the whole run priced up front: our calculator gives the delivered price of 100 to 10,000 copies (for the common black-and-white paperbacks) before you commit, with the freight as its own line when the shipment is heavy.
- You want a published package price: BookLogix sells its services à la carte, so a total comes from adding the services you choose. (booklogix.com, checked 15 October 2026)
- You want one team across editing, design, print and distribution, an ISBN registered in your name or your own imprint, and no share of your royalties.
Choose BookLogix if…
- You want to buy only the stages you need, one at a time: BookLogix lists Editorial, Design, Book Registration, Proofing, eBooks and Audio Books, Selling & Distribution and Marketing Tools as separate services. (booklogix.com/publishing, checked 15 October 2026; booklogix.com, checked 15 October 2026)
- You want in-house printing and binding with stated turnaround: standard paperback in 7–10 business days, hardcover and custom books in 10–20. (booklogix.com/faqs, checked 15 October 2026)
- You want to choose how the ISBN is held: BookLogix offers an ISBN registered to it (and acting for you on distribution), one registered to you, or your own. (booklogix.com/publishing, checked 15 October 2026; booklogix.com/faqs, checked 15 October 2026)
Switching probably isn't worth it if…
- Your book was published on BookLogix's Publishing path, under an ISBN registered to BookLogix. BookLogix says an ISBN cannot be transferred, so moving means a new ISBN and new retailer listings. (booklogix.com/publishing, checked 15 October 2026; booklogix.com/blog-post/why-your-book-needs-isbn, checked 15 October 2026)
- You own the ISBN and the files, the book is selling, and the only reason to move is a lower printing price: reprinting costs the same effort wherever you do it.

Our figure is the live output of our calculator at the moment this page was shown. Where the quantity is small, delivery is included in the price; for a heavy shipment the freight is its own line at the carrier's cost, with no markup. Prices exclude sales tax. A competitor price appears here only with a source and the date we checked it; until we have captured one, the cell says so. We never estimate a competitor's price.
The same job on both
The job: Publish a 200-page paperback with your own ISBN and get it on Amazon.
With Harmony Publishing
- Choose a package. Essentials is built for a manuscript that is already edited and covers cover design, interior layout, ISBN assignment, account setup and the publishing submission to KDP and IngramSpark, and distribution worldwide.
- Send your manuscript and a cover brief. If you already own an ISBN for the printed edition you can give it to us in the calculator's ISBN step.
- Approve the proofs. Nothing is printed until you have approved everything.
- We submit the book to the retailers and print-on-demand services and set up distribution in your name.
- You supply:
- A finished, edited manuscript and a cover brief (or a finished cover).
- You get back:
- An ISBN registered in your name or your imprint, your print-ready and editable files, the book live through worldwide distribution, and 100% of your royalties.
- How long:
- 4–6 weeks standard; sometimes up to 8 weeks, depending on the package and how quickly proofs are approved.
With BookLogix
- Choose the services you need from its list: Editorial, Design, Book Registration, Proofing, Selling & Distribution and others, each bought on its own. (booklogix.com/publishing, checked 15 October 2026; booklogix.com, checked 15 October 2026)
- Choose how the ISBN is held. Publishing path: registered to BookLogix. Self-Publishing path: you own it and are listed as the publisher. You can also give BookLogix an ISBN you already have. (booklogix.com/publishing, checked 15 October 2026; booklogix.com/faqs, checked 15 October 2026)
- Approve the proof; BookLogix prints in-house: standard paperback in 7–10 business days. (booklogix.com/publishing, checked 15 October 2026; booklogix.com/faqs, checked 15 October 2026)
- Selling & Distribution: BookLogix can sell the book on its BookStore. Its pages we read do not list the retailers, so ask it whether and how the book reaches Amazon. (booklogix.com, checked 15 October 2026; booklogix.com/publishing, checked 15 October 2026)
- You supply:
- The manuscript and files, the funding for each service you buy, and your decision on how the ISBN is held. (booklogix.com/publishing, checked 15 October 2026)

Switching to Harmony from BookLogix
If you decide to move a book you have already published, this is what carries over, what does not, and an order of steps that keeps the book available the whole time.
What moves with you
- Your rights and your files. BookLogix says authors keep all rights and own all the files. (booklogix.com/publishing, checked 15 October 2026)
- An ISBN registered to you, on its Self-Publishing path or one you supplied. (booklogix.com/publishing, checked 15 October 2026; booklogix.com/faqs, checked 15 October 2026)
What does not
- An ISBN registered to BookLogix. BookLogix says 'An ISBN cannot be transferred from the publishing services provider to you, or vice-versa', so a new edition needs a new ISBN. (booklogix.com/publishing, checked 15 October 2026; booklogix.com/blog-post/why-your-book-needs-isbn, checked 15 October 2026)
- Retailer listings and reviews tied to the old ISBN. A new ISBN starts as a new listing, and whether reviews can be carried over is the retailer's decision.
The order of steps, so the book is never unavailable
- Ask BookLogix for your final files, and leave the book live while you move. (booklogix.com/publishing, checked 15 October 2026)
- Decide the ISBN: keep one you own, or take a new one with us.
- Order a single proof copy from us (the calculator prices one copy) and approve it.
- Publish the new edition with us and check it is live on Amazon and the other stores you sell through.
- Only then end the old listing. The BookLogix pages we read do not say what happens when an author leaves, so ask BookLogix in writing how and when the book is taken down. (booklogix.com/faqs, checked 15 October 2026)
What to check first
- Which path were you on? An ISBN registered to BookLogix cannot move; one registered to you can. (booklogix.com/publishing, checked 15 October 2026; booklogix.com/blog-post/why-your-book-needs-isbn, checked 15 October 2026)
- Do you hold the final interior and cover files? BookLogix says you own them. (booklogix.com/publishing, checked 15 October 2026)
- What happens when you leave? BookLogix's public pages do not say. (booklogix.com/faqs, checked 15 October 2026)
- Does the book meet the trim and page limits of the new print run? Check them in the calculator.

Three questions to ask any provider
Including us. The answers decide more about value than the headline price:
- Ask who the publisher of record will be. If it is not you or your imprint, understand why before you sign.
- Ask what royalty share they take. Any percentage of your sales is a cost that compounds over the life of the book.
- Ask whether you receive your editable source files. If you cannot take your interior and cover elsewhere later, you are locked in.
On all three, our answer is: you are the publisher of record, we take no royalties, and you receive your print-ready and editable files.
How this comparison was made
- Prepared by the Harmony Publishing editorial team.
- BookLogix's public product, help and terms pages were read on the dates in the sources list; nothing was purchased, and no account was opened.
- Our figures are the live output of our own calculator, for the scenario stated above.
- A competitor price appears only with a source and the date it was checked; until we have captured one, the cell says so. We never estimate a competitor's price.
- Facts checked: 15 October 2026. Each source below carries the date it was checked, which can be earlier.

Frequently asked questions
Is BookLogix cheaper than Harmony Publishing?
BookLogix sells its services à la carte, so its total is the sum of the services you pick, and we found no package price on its pages. Our package prices are published on one page. A like-for-like figure needs the list of services you would buy from each. (booklogix.com, checked 15 October 2026)
Who is the publisher of record at BookLogix?
It depends on the ISBN. On BookLogix's Publishing path the ISBN is registered to BookLogix; on its Self-Publishing path you own the ISBN and are listed as the publisher. With us, you are: the ISBN is registered in your name or your own imprint. (booklogix.com/publishing, checked 15 October 2026)
Do I keep my royalties at BookLogix?
BookLogix says authors retain all rights to their work and receive 100% royalties, and that you fund the publishing and production. With us you keep 100% of royalties and full rights too. (booklogix.com/publishing, checked 15 October 2026)
How long does publishing take?
BookLogix says the average time to publish a book is two to four months, and quotes 7–10 business days for standard paperback printing. Ours is 4–6 weeks standard; sometimes up to 8 weeks, depending on the services in your package and how quickly proofs are approved. (booklogix.com/faqs, checked 15 October 2026)
Can I move a book from BookLogix to Harmony?
Yes. Ask BookLogix for your final files, check which path your ISBN was on (BookLogix says an ISBN cannot be transferred between provider and author), order a proof, publish with us, and only then end the old listing. The BookLogix pages we read do not say what happens when an author leaves, so ask in writing.
