Harmony Publishing vs Draft2Digital
Draft2Digital is an ebook distribution aggregator, formatting and sending your manuscript to multiple stores.
Short version. Draft2Digital distributes eBooks: you upload a manuscript, it formats and sends it to many retail stores, and it aggregates the reporting. It does not print physical books or provide editing and design. We produce the book, print it and set up distribution. For a digital-only release with a finished manuscript, an aggregator is fast and cheap. For a printed book, or one that needs producing, it is one piece of a larger job.

Three questions to ask any provider
Including us. The answers decide more about value than the headline price:
- Ask who the publisher of record will be. If it is not you or your imprint, understand why before you sign.
- Ask what royalty share they take. Any percentage of your sales is a cost that compounds over the life of the book.
- Ask whether you receive your editable source files. If you cannot take your book elsewhere later, you are locked in.
On all three, our answer is: you are the publisher of record, we take no royalties, and you receive your print-ready and editable files.
Frequently asked questions
Is Draft2Digital a publisher?
No. It is a distribution aggregator for eBooks. It formats your manuscript and sends it to retail stores, and it reports the sales. It does not produce, edit, design or print a book.
Can Draft2Digital print my paperback?
No. It distributes digital editions only. A printed book needs a separate print route, which is where a production company comes in.
Should I use Draft2Digital or a publisher?
If you have a finished manuscript and want a digital-only release, an aggregator is efficient and inexpensive. If you want a printed book, or the manuscript needs editing, design and formatting first, that work has to happen somewhere else.
Can I use both?
Yes, and many authors do: a print edition produced with us, and the digital edition distributed through an aggregator as well as directly. The ISBN belongs to you either way.
