So You Are an Author in Texas — Here Is How to Get Your Book Published

I talk to Texas authors almost every week. Some are in Houston with a finished manuscript sitting on their laptop for two years. Others are in Austin, halfway through a memoir they started during lockdown. A few are in Dallas, running a business and finally ready to write that book they have been promising clients.
The question is always the same: how do I actually get this thing published without getting ripped off or losing my rights?
Here is the short answer, and then I will walk you through the details.
What Harmony Publishing Actually Does
We are a self-publishing company. You write the book. We handle everything after that — editing, cover design, interior layout, ISBN, printing, and getting your book onto Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and about 40,000 other stores worldwide.
You keep 100% of your royalties. You keep full copyright. There are no contracts locking you into anything.
Five Packages, Pick Your Level
Essentials — $699. For the author who already has a clean manuscript. We format it, assign an ISBN, set up your accounts, and submit to Amazon and IngramSpark. Done.
Complete — $1,299. Adds 25 printed copies, eBook conversion, and basic promotion. Good if you want to hold your book and hand copies to family.
Premium — $2,499. This is the sweet spot for most authors. Includes professional copyediting (up to 60,000 words), 50 printed copies, a better cover design, social media graphics, and Amazon SEO setup.
Rockstar — $4,999. Full developmental edit (up to 80,000 words), 100 books in hardcover or softcover, a custom author website with free hosting for a year, and 30 days of marketing management after launch.
Legend — $9,999. For executives, CEOs, and anyone who wants the full treatment. Includes ghostwriting up to 50,000 words, 500 books, audiobook production, press releases, a book video trailer, and event planning.
How It Works
- You submit your manuscript through our dashboard.
- We assign a team — editor, designer, layout person.
- You review proofs, make changes, approve.
- We print and distribute. Your book goes live on Amazon within days.
Timeline is usually 6 to 8 weeks from when you finalize your manuscript. Faster if your manuscript is already clean.
Common Questions I Get from Texas Authors
Do I have to come to your office? No. Everything is online. Your dashboard, video calls, email.
Can I order just 10 copies? Yes. Print-on-demand means you order as few or as many as you want.
What genres do you publish? All of them. Memoir, business, fiction, faith-based, poetry, childrens books. If it is a book, we publish it.
How is this different from a traditional publisher? With a traditional publisher, they own your rights and take most of your royalties. With us, you keep everything. The trade-off is you pay upfront and handle your own marketing.
That is it. If you are a Texas author reading this, and you have a manuscript or even just an idea, reach out. We will tell you straight up if it is ready to publish or what it needs.
